Short version: Letterboxd Logger does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device and between your browser and Letterboxd.
What this extension does
Letterboxd Logger is a Chrome extension that detects the movie you are watching on Netflix, MUBI, Prime Video, or JioHotstar and lets you log it to your Letterboxd account without leaving your browser.
Data we access
- Movie title — read from the active tab's page title or DOM. Used only to search Letterboxd for the matching film. Never stored or sent anywhere except Letterboxd.
- Letterboxd session cookie (
com.xk72.webparts.csrf) — read locally to authenticate API requests to Letterboxd on your behalf. Never transmitted to any server other than letterboxd.com. - Your rating, review, and diary preferences — entered by you in the popup. Sent directly to Letterboxd's API. Never stored by this extension.
Data we do not collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We do not track which movies you watch or log
- We do not store any data on remote servers — there are none
- We do not share any information with third parties
- We do not access your browsing history
- We do not read cookies from any domain other than letterboxd.com
Permissions explained
- activeTab — to read the title of the movie page you are currently on
- scripting — to inject a small script that reads the movie title from the streaming page
- cookies — to read the Letterboxd CSRF token required to make authenticated API requests
- Host permissions for Netflix, MUBI, Prime Video, JioHotstar, and Letterboxd — required to detect titles and communicate with Letterboxd's API
Third-party services
This extension communicates only with letterboxd.com on your behalf, using your existing logged-in session. It does not use any analytics services, ad networks, or other third-party services.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Significant changes will also be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
